I honestly thought he died a few years ago. Last photo I saw of him was way back then, anyway. He looked really rough. Must've been all those hours spend breaking the sound barrier in a chopper.
He was one of my favorite actors. He lived a very rough life in his later years, Airwolf only ran 4 seasons specifically due to his cocaine abuse problems, he also had problems with alcohol and other drugs, he was in several major automobile crashes, at least one of those severely injuring his neck and causing him problems with speech for the rest of his life. He had an infection in his lower right leg creating the need for it to be amputated several years ago. Something was wrong with his left eye, you can see in some of the photographs taken of him in the last few years it has a opaque appearance.
So yeah, he's been looking pretty rough the last several... decades.
