Awesome thunderstorms moved in thru this area last night. Most people just watched a show that in 25 years here, I have never seen.

We had the same down here yesterday. I can't remember the last time we had thunderstorms. I actually saw lightning, and it hailed for about 5 minutes too. Supposed to happen again tomorrow I think.

That's funny... Come on down here to Central Florida and you can watch all the lightning you want every afternoon beginning around 4:00 pm...

It's cool though, I love a good thunderstorm...

Our first round of severe thunderstorms was in the 3rd week of February, right on schedule.

I have seen 'real' thunderstorms in the East, but here the weather from about May to October is pretty boring. Even in the wintertime, we may only get one or two heavy storms.

Yea it was pretty good out in the inland empire, loads of lightning not more than 1-2 miles from my house.

A friend texted me that a tornado touched down near our appartment complex in AUS. Damn... wish I was there ;)

My nephew in AUS says that no one there takes tonado warnings seriously because they believe the terrain on the west edge of the city prevent tornados from touching down.

Depends on what part of town you are on. There is a confirmed tornado at 183 and Anderson Mills which would be about a mile from the hills around Lake Travis.

Nobody takes the warnings serious anywhere in central Texas. You could have a tornado warning and people would still go about their business. Too many false alarms. Hope more don't touch-down or it might be deadly.

Lucky, out about 80 miles west of you, we haven't seen a drop of rain in like two weeks. I have not heard a clap of thunder or seen lightning since I moved up here.

Though on the flip side, where I used to live in Texas had a tornado warning yesterday with some damage. You win some, you lose some.

{redflag} {crazy}

People who believe that kind of stuff are the first ones to get killed.

Similar "terrain" exists in Pittsburgh, and in 1998 it was that very neighborhood of the city (Mount Washington) that had the touchdown. A few counties away an F3 and then an F4 touched down practically right on the eastern Continental divide.

Terrain will NOT protect you.
I'm baaaaaaack.

This is my first summer away from Northern Minnesota and into Utah. I live in the "West Desert" which is actually an "semi-arid climate". It's rained 3/7 days every week for the last month and supposed to be the next 10 days too. On top of that it's been a high around 65-75 every day. I'm not complaining though, beats sun and 100 every day!!!!!!
Down with this sort of thing!
