Abortion Doctor Killed During Church Services

Everything that would not belong anywhere else.

This is a new low for the anti-abortion crowd. No matter how much you hate his actions, killing someone in a house of worship is just wrong. I suppose that Dr. Tiller probably knew he was going to be murder someday since there has been attempts of his life before and his clinic has been bombed.

I would make a bet the killer is the same person that tried to kill him before . . .

Persistence paid off.

Agreed, though. A New Low for the Anti-Abortion crowd.
LET'S GO BRANDON!!!!

This from a pro-lifer - this is dead wrong, pardon the pun, in every single way. A doctor who terminates the lives of unborn infants is one thing, but killing him does nothing to rectify anything, and makes the killer just as guilty of the thing of which he/she has accused the doctor. Two wrongs never make a right.

I'd sure like to know what's his soul is doing this afternoon. He's either "dancing on cloudtops" or "shoving coal."

Is this really a murder? Or is it just a very very late term post-natal abortion?

Either way it was wrong of course.

Just got to love Operation Rescue, apparently the higher ups didn't get the same memo;
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... id=topnews

Operation Rescue President Troy Newman, whose group is based in Wichita and whose Web site carries a "Tiller Watch" feature, said he was "shocked" by the killing.

"Operation Rescue has worked for years through peaceful, legal means, and through the proper channels to see him brought to justice," Newman said in a statement. "We denounce vigilantism and the cowardly act that took place this morning."

But Randall Terry, founder of Operation Rescue, called Tiller "a mass murderer" and added: "We grieve for him that he did not have time to properly prepare his soul to face God."

Anyone else think it's quite possible the suspect has ties to this group?

He may, but I'd say he's not typical of said group. For whatever you think of their views, they don't sound the type to encourage what the murderer did today.

FYI, he wasn't the typical abortion doctor, as he is one of the few who performs late-term abortions.

I believe he was one of three nationwide. A ward of the state of Arizona wanted a late-term abortion, the appellate court agreed, and the state had to send the 14 year old to the Tiller clinic in Kansas.

I see. Just wanted to point out that he was not the typical.

No disagreement there, but still that info needed to be known.

Oh, I completely agree with the information being important.

There are plenty of nutjobs on both sides of the debate.

No, that is inaccurate and misleading. This is a new low for the guy that did the shooting. The death of the doctor was not condoned by any other "anti-abortion crowd" participants that I am aware of. Here's a good example of that from the article...

Troy Newman, the president of Operation Rescue, an anti-abortion group based in Wichita, said he had always sought out “nonviolent” measures to challenge Dr. Tiller, including efforts in recent years to have him prosecuted for crimes or investigated by state health authorities.

“Operation Rescue has worked tirelessly on peaceful, nonviolent measures to bring him to justice through the legal system, the legislative system,” Mr. Newman said, adding, “We are pro-life, and this act was antithetical to what we believe.”

To say this is a "new low for the anti-abortion crowd" is akin to saying any illegal use of a firearm is a "new low for the anti-gun control crowd", or inappropriate use of force against a suspect is a "new low for the law enforcement community".

Let me also make clear that I am pro-choice.

Those who know Roeder said he believed that killing abortion doctors was an act of justifiable homicide.
Roeder, who in the 1990s was a manufacturing assemblyman, also was involved in the "Freemen" movement.
In April 1996, Roeder was arrested in Topeka after Shawnee County sheriff's deputies stopped him for not having a proper license plate. In his car, officers said they found ammunition, a blasting cap, a fuse cord, a one-pound can of gunpowder and two 9-volt batteries, with one connected to a switch that could have been used to trigger a bomb.

Morris Wilson, commander of the Kansas Unorganized Citizens Militia in the mid-1990s, said he knew Roeder fairly well.
"I'd say he's a good ol' boy except he was just so fanatic about abortion," said Wilson, who now lives in western Nebraska. "He was always talking about how awful abortion was. But there's a lot of people who think abortion is awful."

Looks like he posted on the Operation Rescue web site back in 2007 the following comments: "Bleass everyone for attending and praying in May to bring justice to Tiller and the closing of his death camp. Sometime soon, would it be feasible to organize as many people as possible to attend Tillers church (inside, not just outside) to have much more of a presence and possibly ask questions of the Pastor, Deacons, Elders and members while there? Doesn't seem like it would hurt anything but bring more attention to Tiller."

Sounds like someone that I wouldn't want as a neighbor.

Agreed. But the pro-life nutjobs are the ones who stepped up to the limelight this week.
