FLOWER MOUND, TX -- A 10-year-old girl has been arrested and charged with assault after she and her older sister got into a fight.

Reagan Green was taken into custody Saturday after the fight with 13-year-old Desiree Green.

Someone witnessed the fight at a Flower Mound park and contacted police, Dallas-Fort Worth television station KDFW reported. Reagan and Desiree returned to their home where officers arrived and made the arrest.

Lt. Clay Pierce with the Flower Mound Police Department told the station it was a case of family violence and state law required them to take some type of action.

How often does a situation like this actually result in an arrest? I hardly see it doing anything productive for this 10 year old girl. Perhaps the cops should take a look of the parents, or lack thereof.

For f*ck's sake, children will fight. My brother and myself had our last violent fight when I was 15 and he 14. The fight resulted in a broken finger for him (he tried to punch me into my face, I turned my head and he hit the solid bone of my skull instead). IIRC, the whole fight was about some nonsense.
Our parents were not amused, but none of them would have ever thought of involving the cops.

Although it isn't ideal, it is natural for siblings to fight.

My father has the story of his older brother jamming a lawn jart through his palm into the grass. They both ended up going to Nam. My uncle was an airline pilot and has now been high up in the FAA for over 35 years and my father still hasn't forgiven him since there has been no apology. The families still visit, but it is not forgotten.

My older brother stole many things from me. We got into quite a few fights. I was a skinny wimp but at one point I slammed his head into a coffee table which caused him to have 15 stitches in his head. I visited him in the pokey this last Sunday and wish that he was still around to kick my ass.

This crap should be left alone unless there is serious sexual or life threatening injuries occurring. Otherwise sibling fighting should be handled by the parents.

More often than not I'm afraid. It's mostly because of this IMHO,

In Virginia, when police are called to a domestic situation, someone IS going to jail. I don't think there is an actual law that says this - but the police will tell you - if we have to come to your house, someone is going for a ride in the back of a squad car.

Knowing my two girls, if that'd been them the one who broke her finger would've been upset at her sister for purposely trying to hit her finger with her head ;) {laugh}

My sister and I used to fight constantly....however, when things really escalated we'd end up throwing things at each other (books, usually). I can imagine getting hauled off in a paddy wagon...we'd have been charged with assault with a deadly weapon!

However, is it posiible that the parents asked for the kid to be carted off? Just to teach her a lesson, and maybe get the kids to stop fighting?
