With various videos showing the last sections of A380 being trucked to the factory through St Nazaire, it got me wondering what will happen to the ships and specialised equipment Airbus used to transport parts. Can they be repurposed for other family members or will they be sold on or even scrapped?>
There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

No idea about the overland equipment but the barges are planned to move to the single aisle lines and eventually A350, a move that probably wouldn't have happened without the current situation.
Some major assemblies are going to Spirit Aerosystems at the former Bombardier site in Belfast and a plan was proposed to transport them to Broughton/Hawarden by sea, a relatively simple trip acorss the Irish Sea. Initially this was rejected due to the extremely tight nature of the A32x line in particular, but there is now plenty of fat in the system to allow a small delay while a new logistics solution is established. People in logistics have gone from 'no' to 'I can't say' in the last few weeks, so it's certain that it's back on the table.
A million great ideas...
