An American Airlines passenger has missed the birth of his child by refusing to fly in economy class. Having booked and paid for a business class seat, the passenger found at the gate it had been given away. Despite being offered an economy seat, he opted to instead wait until the following day for a J class placement, and missed the birth of his daughter as a result.

Well the birthing process does look really gross, almost as bad as economy.

If he'd bought the seat there's absolutely no excuse for it being given away but, given the extraordinary circumstances, the correct response would have been to take the economy seat then detail the whole incident on social media once he'd attended the birth. I suspect he'd have flown for free for a while.

It also smells similar to a DL wagon dragon.

I popped on my nurse cap for a minute to try to figure out what physical condition would have been excruciatingly painful in an economy seat, yet joyfully pain free in a business seat. I could not. Perhaps I can't get past my snooty prejudice.

Whatever it was, it won't be as painful as what the mother puts him through till well after that kid is in college...
My friend and I applied for airline jobs in Australia, but they didn't Qantas.

He's a big guy according to FT. The thread also states that his wife went into labour early and he wasn't aware of this when he refused to board the flight. Interestingly, there is a strong suggestion that his J seat was taken from him and allocated to a friend by a contractor with access to AA's res system. The finger for that is being pointed at someone we all know...

I don't fly Y, folk here know that. IF, IF (better never happen) my wife is almost in labor, or going to give birth in a bit, I'd fly a DHC-6 * to get there. This guy us a douchebag . . . .

* I did exactly that while fishing on the Kenai in 1994 when my daughter was born. I was a cop then, and got a police escort - smelly fishing clothes and all - to the airport ENI and expeditious cab ride to EDF hospital. Beat the 5 hour drive back to EDF from HOM.
LET'S GO BRANDON!!!!
