Difficult to do anything else. They had spares that were in themselves a little worn and an economic policy that meant there was very little leeway to go hunting the marketplace for extra stock, especially when *new Airbii were being financed. That the MDs made it this far is testament to an initial build quality that far exceeded the minimum requirements.

*Allegiant have bought on the A320 'classic' line, presumably to save money. In the long-term this is unlikely to be a wise move, though I suspect they are in the market for some nearly-new A320neo frames.

The days of British Airways 767 flying are almost done. G-BZHA and G-BZHB will operate their final passenger services on Monday 26th November before being stored and, if the rest of the BA 767 fleet is anything to go by, being scrapped.

Sadly, it seems that "City of Bangkok" will be retiring from passenger service with KLM soon. Will this airframe become a BCF or a retiree in the desert?

Sadly, NAC's last remaining 737-200 has left the fleet, bearing traces of the original owner in the registration. N321DL flew from Great Falls, MT to Winston Salem, NC yesterday:

Per their post on Facebook, "Unfortunately, InselAir has ceased operations under the 7I/958 IATA codes effective 16 FEB 2019." Their mad dogs had been stored for a while, but it will be interesting to see the fate of their Fokkers.

Philippines A340-300 RP-C3437 flew from MNL to SFB (via SFO) yesterday (source: FR24) and reportedly has been stored there now (source: planespotters.net). Initially it was planned to be picked up by Plus Ultra, but apparently it is in limbo now if this is ever going to happen.

Also recently retired after a 67 year flying career, Honeywell's Convair 580 N580HW, thankfully saved from scrapping and destined to spend her retirement in a new museum of unique aircraft being constructed in BC Canada.

BA's 744 fleet retirement continues with G-CIVG making her final landing at DGX a few minutes ago.

The last BA 744 retirement is now confirmed for Q1 2024. G-BYGC will remain in BOAC colours until retirement in 2022.

Air France also said goodbye to one of their first A380s, F-HPJB has been ferried to MLA. Hopefully it will not be scrapped but repainted in full white and returned to its lessor company.

In the Pilotseye.tv documentation of Jürgen Raps last flight he clearly states that the A3XX originally started as a "joint-cooperation" between Airbus and Boeing.

Boeing left the project and Airbus decided to continue alone...
