Difficult to do anything else. They had spares that were in themselves a little worn and an economic policy that meant there was very little leeway to go hunting the marketplace for extra stock, especially when *new Airbii were being financed. That the MDs made it this far is testament to an initial build quality that far exceeded the minimum requirements.
*Allegiant have bought on the A320 'classic' line, presumably to save money. In the long-term this is unlikely to be a wise move, though I suspect they are in the market for some nearly-new A320neo frames.
