Grounded...

Samaritan's Purse DC-8-72 N782SP is currently heading south east across the north of England, and will pass just to the south of me.

Pity it's dark out {sigh}

The 2EXCEL/Oil Spill Response 727 has flown over a couple of times in the past few days. Such a distinctive noise!

A USAF Boeing RC-135U. I'll be damned. I don't see those on radar too often.

Landed in BEG after a 9.5 hour flight from GSO. Hell of a trip for a 52 year old!

Nothing overhead tonight but the usual B200s headed FAB - BWF with submarine maintenance crews onboard. They make a fair old noise, even from FL200.
A million great ideas...

Not quite directly overhead - but Ryanair have got a Maltese registered Laudamotion A320 operating PMI-MAN. Odd considering how many of their own aircraft are parked up.

That was a regular on the Saturday morning PMI-NCL over recent weeks, although it's now stopped for the winter (or forever, who knows? {sarcastic} ).

And now on the return leg - this time just north of Chris!

Simultaneously, I have Maximus Air Cargo An-124 UR-ZYD just to the west of me at 30,000ft (out of Fujairah to who knows where) and Qatar Amiri Flight A340-300 A7-AAH heading west at 36,000ft, just to my north.

Not particularly out of the ordinary, except that this could well be the first time a Virgin 787 has flown over these parts.

G-VOWS operating the inaugural VS362 MAN-ISB.

The return may well overfly me in that case if it does the northerly ROSUN arrival {thumbsup}

Well... Just heard a fairly loud multi-engine jet aircraft fly over at 8000 ft. It didn't sound like an A340, A380, or B747. Ran outside to see this overhead. Radar shows it landing at MSP (about 18 miles away from me).

Nice!

My little brother should've been able to see a Beluga XL earlier, headed into East Midlands. I texted him a heads-up, which he definitely read, but I have no idea whether he actually saw the Beluga or not.
My friend and I applied for airline jobs in Australia, but they didn't Qantas.

It did a few laps at Newcastle before heading to EMA, passing just to the west of me at under 10,000ft but I had no chance of seeing it thanks to the awful weather and low cloud base. Not something we're likely to see again any time soon either, I would suggest.

About 10 miles west of me at 25,000 feet - C-GPPW, a Dash-8-Q400 out of Keflavik on delivery to Biman. And, guess what...full cloud cover {thumbsdown}

They used to fly up in my neck of the woods before Skywest got them. Had the prettiest FA in existence, too. {angel}

I flew an OH example from GSO to CVG several times back in the day...landing in that thing was always an adventure. :))

Wait OH had them? I didn't even know. Those and the old UA Avros are just such cool airplanes.

Pretty sure only ACA had the DoJets. Comair only had CRJs.

It may have been ACA...Delta Connection either way...and was to CVG...

I forget in my advanced years. :|
