Air China A332 B-5958 caught fire in forward cargo hold on 27-AUG-2019 during boarding at PEK. Those passengers already on board, and crew evacuated safely via jet bridge.
No casualties reported, but the aircraft is suspected to be a write-off.

In the last picture it appears that the fire burnt through the top of the fuselage.

I used to work across the street from the airport, and would occasionally have lunch at the Indian restaurant mentioned in the article (Kabab Curry Cuisine).

A THY Turkish Airlines Airbus A330-300, registration TC-LOL performing flight TK-627 (dep Dec 30th) from Istanbul (Turkey) to Port Harcourt (Nigeria), suffered a number of damaged tyres upon landing in Port Harcourt at about 03:30L (02:30Z).

Sources claim the captain landed the aircraft next to the runway due to confusion of runway lights (edge lights confused for center line lights).

That ash grounded all flights to and from Manila's international airport indefinitely.

Two Delta Air Lines aircraft were in a near-miss at New York’s JFK airport last Friday evening, as one blocked the runway while the other was already accelerating for takeoff. The swift actions of air traffic controllers at the airport prevented a disaster from occurring and no passengers were hurt. The FAA is investigating.

An Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 struck a hungry swarm of grasshoppers late last week, rendering much of the aircraft’s fuselage a nice smear of brown. It might sound trivial but these grasshoppers are big and swarm in their millions. When an aircraft runs into them, they can block visibility from the cockpit and cause significant damage to the aircraft. Luckily, in this case, the plane landed safely.

Went right over my area as well. I was at work, but there was a lengthy discussion on the local Neighborhood Watch Facebook page.

Wonder why it couldn't circle over the ocean and dump.

Swissair 111, anyone?

A Finnair flight attendant has been hospitalized after falling from an Airbus A320. The aircraft was parked at Helsinki at the time, when the FA apparently opened the aft door and tumbled to the ground. She is not in a life threatening condition, but has suffered some broken bones as a result of the fall.

In the event of a fire, seems like they might rather turn around and land from over the ocean, rather than do a downwind, base, and approach all over massively populated areas.

Obviously a heavy aircraft and tailwind is not optimum, but neither is crashing into houses.
