Shots fired on an Air France A330 after landing in Congo:

On Saturday April 11th, an Air France Airbus A330-200 was shot at twice after landing in Point-Noire in the Republic of the Congo. The plane, operating the flight AF4145 from Paris Charles De Gaulle to Pointe-Noire, was on a rescue mission to repatriate some 100 french nationals from the central African nation. The plane was then set to continue onto Bangui in the Central African Republic to pick up 120 more passengers.

Not a good week for BA {boxed}

Yesterday, a British Airways Airbus A380 damaged the taxiway in Chateauroux, France. Three-quarters of the British flag carrier’s A380 fleet is now in long term storage at the French airport amid a global decline in the aviation industry.

Just about the perfect storm for shifting an airliner. I've often wondered if ground staff will have to start anchoring aircraft as composites drastically reduce their empty weight.

Alaska’s largest airport shut down briefly on May 2nd after a bomb threat was reported on an Asia-bound flight. The aircraft returned to Anchorage International Airport, where it was searched in a remote section of the airport. In the meantime, flights, including the world’s largest aircraft, the An-225, diverted to Fairbanks– another major airport in Alaska.

Two Libyan Airlines’ Airbus aircraft, one A330 and one A320, were damaged when a mortar attack took out the fuel depot at Tripoli’s Mitiga Airport on Saturday. Neither plane had any passengers aboard at the time. However, for the unlucky A330, this was the second time it was hit by rocket shrapnel within a year.

That one made my day :))

As airports and airlines around the world are now instituting mandatory face mask policies, travelers have had to comply by obtaining their own supplies. The overwhelming majority of airlines note that any type of ‘face-covering’ is sufficient, often mentioning scarves as suitable substitutes for a proper mask. However, one man has tested the limits of Spirit Airlines’ face-covering policy by donning women’s underwear…

At least 15 dead according to the latest reports. Looks like it hit a sudden downpour on landing and just couldn't stop. Took off from DXB at its weight limit and with a full pax load, so it could have been a lot worse.

It's cyclone season in SE Asia and two things are certain: There will be funny videos of guys on mopeds underestimating the depth of puddles, and Lion Air will have runway excursions.
