Cali ATC no habla inglés - Avianca crew translates comms between diverting LH A346 and Cali ATC:
On approach to Cali ATC instructed LH-542 to hold at MANGA, the crew was unable to find the waypoint in their FMS and queried how to spell that waypoint, ATC however could not understand that request and could not spell the waypoint. ... Communication remained difficult in both directions and several transmissions needed to be retransmitted ("say again") until being understood by the respective recipient.

An Avianca Brasil ... Airbus A330-200 ... performing flight O6-852 from Sao Paulo Guarulhos,SP (Brazil) to Bogota (Colombia), also diverted to Cali due to weather, the crew heard the exchange between Cali Approach and LH-542 and began to translate between Spanish and English communicating with ATC in Spanish and then relaying the communication to the A340 in (clear) English and vice versa.

Ouch moment involving two Kenya Airways frames at NBO for maintenance:

https://www.airlive.net/incident-two-ke ... 2zSd32h4rg

The wording isn't great in the article, probably due to clunky translation. Both aircraft are ERJ190AR:

The plane which was undergoing engine run then, 5Y-KYR, lost the brakes and rammed on to 5Y-FFF, greatly damaging it The technician who was inside the aircraft’c cabin during the incidence steered the plane to avoid hitting the hangar and thought of sacrificing the 5Y-FFF plane.

I completely missed this one (pun intended):

On March 4th, a United Express ERJ-145 (N14171) had a missed approach at PQI. On second attempt... well, you could say they missed that one as well, though this time, they didn't go back up. Touched down well away from the runway, heavily damaging the aircraft and injuring 3 occupants.

One from the WTF department: a man on an AA flight from MSP to PHX touched the faces of fellow passengers, sprayed them with an unknown liquid, then jumped off the plane after landing.

https://www.secretflying.com/posts/amer ... the-plane/

(I doubt that the aircraft in the article photo was the one operating that flight ;) )

A bit more on AVHerald while Aero.de's article has some additional pictures (but a lot of nonsense in the article itself).

A United 757 (N26123) appears to have suffered some fairly heavy damage on landing at EWR today:

https://twitter.com/AirlineFlyer/status ... 1605650432

Reports indicate a bounce on landing, and the left main gear ended up off the runway, presumably due to the nosewheel damage.

OOPS {boxed}

Turkish Airlines took delivery of its first 787-9 last week with plans to press the aircraft into service on domestic flights before expanding to international operations mid-July. Those flights might face some challenges as the first aircraft was damaged on the ground in Istanbul after delivery.

VS 138, opd by G-VKSS (A333) enroute JFK to LHR diverted to BOS after something in the cabin caught fire. According to different media sources, it was either a pax's lithium-battery powered device, or an onboard PTV unit. (If we prefer to believe the source that did not claim the involved aircraft was an "Airbus 3300", it would have been the latter.)

Nobody was hurt, apparently the crew managed to successfully suppress the fire with onboard equipment.
