So after a brief discussion on Facebook it seems that a some of us would be interested in doing some spotting at BCN in 2017, so why not making this an official NAS meet ? :)

Assuming that most of you guys will prefer a week-end I've listed all the week-ends from january to mid-april so that we have a few months ahead of us to find a date that would suit us while staying away from the annual MAN meet in june.

Hopefully we can catch some nice winter shots like Zak did a few years ago {thumbsup}

Let's talk !
New airlines, new routes, new countries... back in the air

Definitely interested.

Let me check my work calendar and come back to you.

BCN? Should get some really cool air-to-air shots if the number of AIRPROXes on AvHerald is anything to go by {boxed}

I'll have a better idea of whether I can attend when the date range narrows a bit.
My friend and I applied for airline jobs in Australia, but they didn't Qantas.

I should say, January holidays are always a no-no from a work point of view.

Sounds tempting. Last time, Ed and me were there mid February. Wx was quite nice, but nights and mornings were quite chilly.

I'd vote for late February / early March.

Definitely interested, and I could be fairly flexible with leave, but won't know for sure until December. If a certain weekend is popular I can request it though {thumbsup}

Dont have a working schedule for next year yet but end of january I´ll be in Iceland, so end of feburay sounds good to me.

I can probably swing the first week of March. We have the MIA event 8-12 FEB 17.

Definitely interested too.... March would be great.

Count me in. Early March would be the easiest for me too.
A million great ideas...

If the not during the MIA event I would join the meeting.

Late February / Early March got my vote.

Thanks a lot to you all for your replies and interest, I think we can easily narrow the date selection to the two first week-ends of march... Do you guys think we can confirm the date by the end of the month or early october ?

From my experience, the best approach is to nominate one weekend, and stick with it. The earlier people can book flights & hotels, the more are likely to show up.

I would say, let us nominate the first weekend in march ;) .

I second this.

First weekend in March suits me as of now.

I´m ok with that. Airfares are still low so would be good if we set the date soon that we can get the low prices.

sounds good to me - as I say I should be able to get the weekend off but won't know for a while. In any case there are enough flights to BCN that getting there shouldn't be too diffcult or expensive!

Vueling wants €200 rt for HAM-BCN-HAM. Yeah, I don't think so... {silly}

MAN has a decent selection, though some of them may not operate in March - currently there are 5 airlines on the route - plus the usual suspects with connections.

Found several options for under £80 from MAN as long as you don't mind Ryanair, Monarch or a Vueling/Jet2 mix.
A million great ideas...
Zak (netAirspace FAA) 19 Sep 16, 16:28Post
Best direct option I found is €139, Ryanair on the way out, Eurowings on the way back.

In terms of accommodation, I would recommend to look for a hotel downtown. The area around the airport is deserted at night, whereas downtown Barcelona... nuff said :))

Rental cars were dirt cheap last time, so transportation shouldn't be an issue.

OUL-HEL-BCN, 346€... If we were doing this mid-week, that'd be 1440€ {crazy} Only takes 12 hours! Or 26, depending which flight you get from OUL.

OUL-HEL on AY, boat, TLL-GRO on FR might work.

If I do make it, it will be a Friday arrival, Sunday departure.
