I was out here this morning. When I looked at the Google Earth image, I saw nothing but a small hangar north of the passenger terminal with an A300 missing its right wing. When I got here, I was shocked. It looked like a mini-Victorville.
The facilities are west of the runway in a new hangar. There was a
TF registered A300F in the hangar, but what was parked outside was impressive. Lots of China Eastern A343s waiting to get torn down, several A330s, both -200s and -300s. A few Boeing and
MS products awaiting the scrapman. Photography was
NOT allowed, so that was that. It was sad seeing so many airframes being zapped by the cutting wheel. I never got an answer as to what was in store for an A340-500. It was parked away from everything else, and had plugs on the fan and turbine exhausts. Speaking with one of the managers, the A345 is a dog with fleas. It has the range, but more costs than a 777. The Trent engines also present problems with some of the life-limited components.

And let's get one thing straight. There's a big difference between a pilot and an aviator. One is a technician; the other is an artist in love with flight. — E. B. Jeppesen
